Microsoft to Ship VR Headset HoloLens from March End
Early last year, Microsoft Corporation (MSFT - Analyst Report) entered the world of virtual and augmented reality with the launch of HoloLens headsets.
Today, Microsoft finally announced to ship the developer 70-415 version of the augmented reality device from Mar 30 in the U.S. and Canada.
Priced at $3,000, the Development Edition of HoloLens is available for pre-order now. Developers who had submitted applications to buy the headset last October will 1Z0-510 receive invitations, after which they can place order.
Currently, the HoloLens headsets target software developers and enterprises in order to commercialize the device. However, Microsoft still hasn’t disclosed when the consumer version of the headset will be released.
What is HoloLens?
HoloLens is a wireless head-mounted computer that runs on Windows 10 and 1Z0-528 has in-built processors, motion sensors, camera and translucent lenses and can render high-definition holograms. The headset comprises a separate box — Holographic Processor Unit — to be worn around the neck.
The battery life of the headset is 1Z1-456 said to be two to three hours. The headgear projects holographic images to the real world, allowing users to play video games, create 3-D models and interact through videoconferences. It marks the entry of the software developer into the 3-D holographic computing space. The wearer can walk 1Z1-102 around and interact with virtual objects without being tethered to any specific device or external wires.
Also, users in different locations can collaborate on 3-D models. Moreover, any app from Windows 10, including Skype, photos app, or a browser can be used as a hologram, which would enable users to work even 4A0-110 when away from their desk.
The virtual and augmented reality 4A0-105 market is still nascent. With HoloLens, Microsoft is foraying into the world of 3-D headsets, where Facebook (FB - Analyst Report) is already a strong player with Oculus Rift. Other Silicon Valley companies in the space are Alphabet (GOOGL - Analyst Report) with its Google Glass, Sony's (SNE - Analyst Report) Project Morpheus and Samsung’s Gear VRsuch head.
However, Microsoft’s HoloLens offers an augmented or "mixed" reality experience, unlike 4A0-103 Facebook's Oculus Rift which completely blocks out the outside world.
Microsoft doesn’t have a spotless launch history and 4A0-105 many of its products have had to taste initial failure. However, the market is a lot different now and the headset looks like real innovation that could help the company to exploit emerging growth opportunities.
